Member. Join Date: January 10, 2007. Posts: 47. Help with older MEC charge bars. I am trying to set up Dads old MEC 600 jr. The charge bars that I have only state gauge and then a #. They will not take a bushing. I have looked and looked and can find no chart that decodes these numbers, including MEC web site, pre - 1982 section.

Often times someone upgrading these 600s can be had for a good deal. For cranking out shells in volume, I recommend the 9000. 650 is fine, just get the MEC resizer. Just me, I suggest 600 and 9000s the most.
Bill M. Around $80 for the conversion kit and around 30 min the first time and about 15 min each time thereafter. However you have to adjust the crimping after each change and that can take some time or not. I started out converting a Sizemaster between 12 and 20. Then I found a good deal on a used Grabber and just left the Sizemaster at 20 gauge.

Some of the older 600's didn't have the Pro Check, but that's easily added and I think it helps speed things up to some extent. Basically, a 600 is a 600, as far as what it does and how it operates. The cloth acts as a cushion making it easy to grab a primer. Complete a shell, grab a primer, drop it in, grab a hull and take off. The Mec 600 is a very simple machine, I'd keep it that way.
